Skagen - Stavanger: southern Norway

Few people know that southern Norway is home to the fascinating Blind Route. Doesn’t that tell you anything? Then we’ll just say that it’s so narrow that you could sail ‘blind’ between the rocks, almost rubbing up against them. We will obligatorily try to drop in at Flekkeford and visit Aga and Paweł – great friends and informal ambassadors of Polish sailing in Norway! We will continue sailing through Egersund to Stavanger, a city that is the Norwegian centre of the oil extraction industry.

Schedule

V1: Day 1
Check-in
Skagen

You can reach Skagen by our bus - we leave from Bielsko Biala (via Katowice, Wroclaw)

Day 2
approx. 100NM
Skagerrak

Here conditions can vary and the waves can be viciously large. Our aim is to reach one of the interesting ports: Kristiansand, Mandal/Farsund or Flekkefjord.

Day 3-4
approx. 100Mm
The Blind Route

Narrow passes between the rocks and islets of southern Norway. Admittedly, you won't be able to fit under some of the bridges, but it's still interesting (Take a look at the map).

Day 5
80NM
Flekkefjord, Egersund & Stavanger

You'd think it would be easy once you've crossed the Skagerrak - nothing could be further from the truth - we know all about that. More than once we have waited out storms to sail to the disembarkation port in good weather with a southerly wind.

Days 6-7

Day 8

The map contains only one possibility of the cruise plan. The actual route depends on the weather conditions in the area at the time. The amount of time spent at sea depends on the willingness of the entire crew to sail, safety is supervised by the skipper - so it is up to them to make the final decision on route selection.

Nature

Although it’s still a long way to the Arctic from here, there’s a chance to spot seals lounging on the beach in Skagen. In Norway, short treks in the surrounding hills await us!

Skagerrak

A place where the waters of the Baltic Sea clash with the waters of the North Sea!

The Blind Route!

The narrow passages of southern Norway!

Lysefjorden & Preikestolen

Preikestolen is said to be inaccessible in winter – but take a look at the video below! This is the kind of attraction we can enjoy if the crew is fit and we speed up the sailing accordingly!
